Prof. Anle Mu leads an innovation team of senior experts and young researchers dedicated to the 'broad-spectrum wind turbine' (Magnus-effect wind turbine), combining theory and experiment while training doctoral and master's students through hands-on projects.

Team Composition

The team combines senior experts with young researchers, covering fluid mechanics, transmission theory, aero-structural dynamics modeling, and intelligent mechatronic system integration. Building on the Magnus effect, the team develops refined mathematical models to predict blade aerodynamic performance and iteratively optimizes designs through high-precision sensing and extensive wind-tunnel experiments.

Core Technology Development

The team pioneered and built China's first 'broad-spectrum wind turbine': it independently developed a high-performance transmission for stable high-torque transfer and an intelligent control system for real-time speed regulation, and established a 3-D unsteady turbulent-flow model with rotation effects as well as a full-system dynamics model coupling blade, generator, and variable-speed systems to guide control-strategy design.

Test Platform & Prototype Validation

The team built a unique wind-tunnel test platform that faithfully reproduces different wind classes with multi-channel instrumentation. The 2 kW prototype has completed more than 80 test rounds: its operating wind-speed range widened from 3–25 m/s to 2–30 m/s with conversion efficiency improved by 10 percentage points — smooth start-up at a 2 m/s breeze and stable, efficient operation under simulated 30 m/s gusts — establishing the 'broad-spectrum' signature and accumulating reliable data for standard-setting.

Industry Collaboration & Talent Training

Alongside original core-technology research, the team promotes industry-academia collaboration, transferring part of its results into product development at a leading wind-turbine manufacturer. The team has received multiple national-level project grants and trains doctoral and master's students through these projects, preparing young talent to carry the underlying theory and technology into research and industry.
